Overview
Short-stay visas (Schengen) enable transit or stays in Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium,CROATIA,Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland, whose duration does not exceed 90 days in the territory of the Schengen States.
The Consulate General of Spain in Guayaquil receives visa applications for Spain, Holland, Finland and Lithuania, only from residents in the provinces of its consular demarcation: Guayas, Santa Elena, Manabí, Los Ríos, El Oro, Cañar, Azuay, Loja, Zamora Chinchipe and Galapagos.
Residents of other provinces must carry out their procedures at the Consulate General of Spain in Quito.
If your final destination is GREECE, LUXEMBOURG, MALTA or PORTUGAL, you must request an appointment at the BLS agency in Quito, since it is the Consulate of Spain in that city that represents these European countries.

Documents Required
Short Stay (Schengen) Visas - Checklist
- Schengen visa application form. SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION FORM. Each applicant submits an application using the official form, which must be completed in all its sections and signed by the applicant. If the applicant is a minor, one of their parents will sign the application. In the case of minors, if they are not traveling with one of their parents, they need to present an exit permit for the parent who is not traveling.
- Photography. A recent passport-size photograph, in color, with a light background, taken from the front, without dark glasses, reflections, or clothing that hides the oval of the face. In the photograph of a minor, no part of the body of the adult holding the minor should be visible.
- Valid and current passport. Original and a photocopy of the page or pages with biometric data of the passport. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the planned date of departure from the Schengen territory. You must have at least two blank pages. Passports issued more than 10 years ago were not presented.
- Copy of identity card (or Ecuadorian visa if you have one)
- Copy of voting certificate.
- FLIGHT RESERVATION, where country and city of departure and country and city of arrival are distinguished, indicating if it makes a stopover in another country. AND RESERVATION OF ACCOMMODATION specifying the date of entry and exit, as well as the country and city where you are staying.
- Original invitation letter processed from the Spanish National Police station.
- Travel medical insurance. The insurance will cover repatriation expenses for medical reasons or death and emergency medical assistance or emergency hospital care during the entire period of stay and throughout the Schengen area. The minimum coverage will be 30,000 euros or its equivalent in local currency. If a multiple-entry visa is requested, the health insurance will be valid for the first intended trip. The applicant will agree to take out insurance for successive trips.
- Payment of the visa fee. The rate is: for people over 12 years old: 99.00 USD; for children between 12 and 6 years old: 49.00 USD; for children under 6 years: free
- Childrens who do not travel with their mother/father: Authorization to leave the country, notarized and apostilled.
- Documents that prove the reason for the trip and the conditions of the stay, the availability of the necessary financial means, and that can establish the applicant's intention to leave the Schengen area before the expiration of the visa. Digital bank certificate and account statements for the last 6 months stamped by the bank, certificate and account statement of the credit card stamped by the bank, certificate from the superintendence of companies with stamp and signature, letter from the company's shareholders, work certificate and payment roles for the last 6 months, policy certificate, SRI digital certificate, Social Security digital certificate, M.A.G.A.P. and R.U.C. If someone guarantees your trip, a notarized and apostilled economic guarantee.
Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:
- Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre..
Processing Time
Applications submitted at the Visa Application Center for Spain will be delivered the next (working) day at the Consulate General of Spain in Guayaquil. Once the application has been submitted, the consulate may require additional documentation from the applicant, so the contact email and telephone number must be correctly indicated in legible letters.
Note that once the file is received by the consulate, the estimated time to process your visa application is 15 business days from the date of submission of the application, a period that may be extended to 45 calendar days when additional documents are requested or the holding of an interview.
In order to prevent delays in processing times, the request must be submitted between 6 months and 15 days before the scheduled start date of the trip.
The processing times begin to count from the day after the application is delivered to BLS International Services.
